Symposium Preamble
In light of the rapid economic and social developments witnessed worldwide today, entrepreneurship and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have become a fundamental pillar of economic growth and societal innovation. However, studies and statistics show that a large proportion of entrepreneurial ventures fail within their first years. This phenomenon, despite the challenges it raises, represents a valuable opportunity for learning, development, and the exploration of new paths to success.
In recent years, Algeria has shown growing interest in entrepreneurship as a strategic option for achieving economic development and diversifying sources of income, particularly amid the current economic and social transformations. Entrepreneurship has become a key driver for wealth creation and job opportunities, and a fertile ground for embodying the spirit of initiative and innovation.
Entrepreneurship constitutes a fundamental lever for advancing economic and social development, as start-ups and micro-enterprises contribute to wealth creation, job generation, and the promotion of innovation. However, the entrepreneurial path in Algeria is not without challenges, as enterprises—whether start-ups, micro, small, or medium-sized—face multiple difficulties related to financing and organizational factors, and to the weak culture of management and innovation, leading to high failure rates in the early years of enterprises. This failure, although a global phenomenon, has a specificity in Algeria linked to a set of structural factors, such as weak sustainable financing, the absence of effective support, and the lack of administrative and managerial experience among young entrepreneurs, in addition to the recentness of the entrepreneurial support ecosystem.
On the other hand, a strong will is emerging among both the State and Algerian youth to overcome these obstacles and build sustainable projects capable of resilience, competitiveness, and contributing to building a strong economy, which makes the study of entrepreneurship in Algeria a necessity for understanding its balance between the risks of failure and the challenges of success and sustainable growth.
Symposium Problem Statement
How can entrepreneurship in Algeria be strengthened in a way that ensures overcoming the risks of failure and transforming them into opportunities for success and sustainable growth in Algeria?
Importance of the Symposium

2. Shedding light on successful experiences and best practices, the symposium contributes to spreading the culture of initiative and innovation among youth and society as a whole.
3. Proposing effective support policies and strategies for entrepreneurs, which enhances the ability of enterprises to resilience and growth in a changing economic environment.
4. Bringing together researchers, academics, practitioners, and decision-makers, thus creating a platform for exchanging expertise and experiences, and developing a shared understanding of entrepreneurial issues.
5. Highlighting the role of entrepreneurship in supporting inclusive and sustainable economic growth, enhancing employment opportunities, and achieving social and economic balance.
